National QualificationThe purpose of the BSB50215 Diploma of Business qualification is to qualify individuals who apply integrated technical and theoretical concepts in a broad range of contexts to undertake advanced skilled or paraprofessional work and as a pathway for further learning.

On successful completion of the Diploma of Business course, graduates will have a national qualification (BSB50215 Diploma of Business).

Mode of Delivery

The course is delivered in class in a face to face setting. Some assessments and self-study and additional study time will also be required outside of class.

Entry Requirements

Admission requirements into the course include the following:

International students are required to have an Upper Intermediate level of English, evidenced by a certificate from an ELICOS provider which is equivalent of an IELTS test score of 5.5 or a successful completion of the TMSS English Language Entry Test.

TMSS ensures that prior to enrolment into this qualification, each student is informed of admissions and prerequisite criteria they have to meet to be able to study this program. This information includes that students:

  • Must be minimum of 18 years of age;
  • Have satisfactorily completed Australian Year 12 or overseas equivalent school qualifications;
  • Have adequate core skills of being able to learn, read, write, research, use technology, work in teams and count as these skills are embedded in the study of this program;
  • Must meet TMSS standards for English language proficiency and by providing valid evidence of attainment of at least one of the following:
    • Academic IELTS (International English Language Testing System) overall band score of 5.5
    • TOEFL Internet  (Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet-Based test) test score band: 55 (Listening 9, Speaking 16, Reading 10, Writing 18)
    • PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English) test score band: 43-50
    • CAE (Cambridge English Advanced) test score band: 162-168
    • OET (Occupational English Test) test score band: Pass
    • TOEFL PBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language Paper-Based Test) test score band: 527.
    • An international student who has studied a Certificate IV level qualification in Australia for at least 12 months who must have to have equivalent level to IELTS 5.5.

International students who are unable to meet any of the above English language proficiency requirements may undertake further study with a NEAS approved ELICOS School.

Learning Materials

Students will receive course materials that are downloadable from the college learning management system in soft copy. These materials will include a learning guide and a range of assessments.

The college also has a small library of printed books that are accessible by borrowing or reading at the library.

Support Services

The college provides support students through a Student Academic Support Officer and a Student Counsellor. Both are available on the college campus from 9.00am to 2.00pm Monday to Friday.

Required Resources

Students will need to have access to document processing software, such as Microsoft Office, and a computer or laptop or access to these. The college does provide computers and software at no cost to students, but these are accessible during college hours only.

College Facilities

The college has modern classes equipped with whiteboards and projectors and a small library with books on loan or reading inside the library. It also has a computer room and a small break out area with kitchenette. Wi-Fi services are available at no cost to students.


A full refund of fees will be paid when one of the following occurs:

  1. A student withdraws from a unit/s prior to the applicable census date
  2. An offer of enrolment is withdrawn by the college except where the offer was made on the basis of incorrect of incomplete information being supplied by the applicant
  3. The college is unable to provide the course or unit which the student is enrolled in
  4. The student is not permitted to enrol due to unit requirements, such as completing a pre-requisite unit, not being satisfied.

Student Rights

The college recognises the rights of students to have unhindered access to mediation. All students are able to access grievance procedures.

The college has a procedure dealing with non-academic grievances (as well as academic grievance). The procedure ensures:

  1. Each grievance, its appeal and its outcome are recorded in writing
  2. Each appeal is heard by an independent person to the matter or by a panel
  3. Each applicant has an opportunity to formally present their case
  4. Each appeal culminates in a written statement, provided by the college, of the appeal outcomes and reasons for the outcome.
